Online OSHA Compliance Training
Enacted in 1970, the Occupational Safety and Health Act created the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) as an agency of the U.S.
Department of Labor. Its purpose is to prevent work-related injuries, illnesses and deaths by issuing and enforcing standards for workplace health and
safety.
OSHA set standards for protective equipment and exposure levels to chemicals, among many other things. In the decades that followed, the breadth of
OSHA standards expanded to include lockouts and tagouts for electrical equipment, hazard communication, bloodborne pathogens and ergonomics.
